Penis enhancement
For many men, the size and shape of their penis can have a significant impact on their self-esteem and confidence levels.1 For those experiencing concerns with small penis size or unsatisfactory penile length, penile enhancement is a surgical procedure that can increase penis size and improve sexual performance and satisfaction.
Associates in Plastic Surgery is a leading provider of penile augmentation surgery, with a team of skilled and experienced surgeons who have helped many men achieve their desired girth and length of the penis.
Our surgeons understand the importance of how the penis looks when it comes to men’s health and are dedicated to providing safe and effective penile enhancement procedures to our patients in Edison, Marlboro, Warren, and West Orange, New Jersey. We take pride in our ability to deliver natural-looking results and provide personalized discreet care to each patient.
Penis enlargement
Penis enlargement, which is also called phalloplasty or genital enlargement surgery, includes several techniques. These techniques include penis lengthening, penile widening with Alloderm dermal matrix grafts, glanular enhancement, penile reconstruction and curvature correction, PRP injections, and the Penuma procedure using silicone penile implants.
Half of the penis is located inside the body and is attached to the pubic bone by what is called the suspensory ligament. This suspensory ligament can be released during penis enlargement surgery, resulting in increased length of the flaccid penis.2 Typically, this increase can measure 1 to 2 inches. The larger the penis is to begin with, the larger the gain can potentially be (since more penis length will be located inside of the body).
During this cosmetic procedure, a small incision is made in the pubic region where the pubic hair will conceal the incision site. No incision is made on the penis itself. The suspensory ligament is identified, dissected, and released. The width of the penis can be enhanced by either injecting harvested fat or placing Alloderm along the length of it. Also, some patients have fat in the pubic regions which can be removed with liposuction. This will help expose more of the penis as well.
Benefits
Surgical and non-surgical penile enhancement can provide numerous benefits to men who are dissatisfied with the size and/or shape of their penis. Some of the most notable benefits include:
- Increased Length and Girth: One of the most significant benefits of surgical penile enhancement is an increase in both length and girth.
- Improved Self-Confidence: Men who are unhappy with the size or shape of their penis often experience low self-esteem and lack of confidence. Surgical penile enhancement can help to boost your self-esteem, increase your confidence, and help you feel more comfortable in intimate situations.
- Enhanced Sexual Performance: By increasing the size of your penis, surgical penile enhancement can also improve your sexual performance. This can result in more satisfying experiences for you and your partner.
Surgical procedures
Pubic lift
There are some individuals who present with a buried penis, or “hidden penis syndrome”, which refers to a penis buried under excess skin in the scrotum, thighs, or stomach.3 A pubic lift is necessary in these instances to remove the excess hanging skin and “lift” the pubic region. This results in more of the penis being visible, thus enhancing the length.
At Associates in Plastic Surgery, we realized that this topic may be sensitive for many people. We always treat every patient inquiring about penis enlargement with the utmost sensitivity and confidentiality. That way the patient can be confident and comfortable enough to have honest discussions about their desires. Once again, realistic expectations are very important and Dr. Heller will personally discuss everything with each patient.
Dermal fat graft
Plastic surgeons have, in recent years, begun to use fat injections to supplement other procedures and provide a more natural way of achieving your objectives. The same process can be used for male enhancement.
We simply remove a small amount of fat from beneath your buttocks, then place it underneath the penile skin. This allows us to enhance penile girth, making the penis much thicker, an important goal for many patients.
The resulting scar is imperceptible. There is minimal downtime and very little discomfort.

Non-surgical
Of course, we understand you might be reluctant to consider traditional surgery for male enhancement. There is quite reasonably some wariness about undergoing surgery in this situation. Fortunately, we provide non-surgical options as well.
In a 10-mintue procedure, we can use an FDA-approved dermal filler composed of hyaluronic acid and make a series of non-needle injections under the skin of the penis. A mixture of collagen and permanent microspheres, this product improves both length and girth by stimulating your body’s natural production of collagen.
We also offer PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injections, which have been shown to achieve a more robust, stronger penis with better erections and longer staying power. This treatment is quick and virtually painless, taking around 15 minutes in total. We will draw a blood sample, extract the platelets, and inject them into the penis. For PRP treatments, we recommend a series of 3 every two weeks for optimal results.
Recovery
The recovery period after penile enhancement surgery can vary depending on the specific procedure performed and your individual healing process. Generally, patients can expect to experience some discomfort, swelling, and bruising in the genital area for the first few days after surgery. Pain medication may be prescribed to manage any discomfort, and patients may need to wear a support garment for several days to help reduce swelling.
During the initial recovery period, it is important to avoid strenuous physical activity, sexual activity, and lifting heavy objects. Patients should also avoid driving until they are cleared by their surgeon to do so. In most cases, patients can return to work and light activities within a week or two after surgery, but more strenuous activities may need to be avoided for several weeks.
It is important to follow all post-operative instructions provided by your surgeon carefully, including taking any prescribed medications as directed, keeping the genital area clean and dry, and attending follow-up appointments as scheduled. Your surgeon will provide you with specific guidelines on when it is safe to resume sexual activity and other physical activities.
Overall, recovery from penile enhancement surgery can take several weeks, and it is important to be patient and allow your body to heal properly. By following your surgeon’s instructions and giving your body time to recover, you can help to minimize complications and achieve the best possible results from your surgery.

FAQs
How Long Does The Recovery Take After Penile Enhancement Surgery?
Recovery time varies from person to person, but most men can return to work and other normal activities within a week or two after the procedure. You will need to avoid sexual activity for several weeks after the procedure to allow for proper healing.
Are The Results Of Penile Enhancement Surgery Permanent?
The results of surgical penile enhancement are typically permanent, although some men may experience a slight reduction in size over time. It is important to maintain a healthy lifestyle and avoid smoking to ensure long-term results.
Is There Scarring After A Surgical Penis Enlargement Procedure?
There may be some scarring after the procedure, but Dr. Heller will make every effort to minimize scarring and ensure that it is as discreet as possible. You may be advised to apply scar treatment products to help reduce the appearance of any scarring.
Can Penile Enhancement Improve Sexual Performance?
Yes, by increasing the size of the penis, surgical penile enhancement can improve sexual performance and satisfaction for both you and your partner. However, it is important to remember that sexual performance is influenced by many factors and that penile enhancement is just one aspect of sexual health.
What Are The Risks Of Penile Enlargement Surgery?
Penile enhancement surgery, like any surgical procedure, carries some risks. Infection, bleeding, nerve damage, scarring, and pain are all possible complications associated with this type of surgery. Additionally, there is a risk that the desired results may not be achieved, and in some cases, additional surgery may be required. In rare cases, penile enhancement surgery can result in erectile dysfunction or other sexual dysfunction.4 Our surgeons will discuss the potential risks and benefits of this cosmetic surgery with you so you can make an informed decision.
Can Penile Enhancement Correct A Micropenis?
According to the Urology Care Foundation, penile enhancement surgery may be able to help men with micropenis.5 The surgical techniques used in penile enhancement can help to increase the length and girth of the penis, which may improve sexual function and self-esteem in men struggling with micropenis. However, it is important to note that not all cases of micropenis may be amenable to penile enhancement surgery, and each case must be evaluated individually by Dr. Heller. Men with micropenis who are interested in penile enhancement surgery should discuss their options for increasing the penile size and girth enhancement with Dr. Heller to determine if the procedure is appropriate for them.
