Surgery
If you suffer from bulging, disproportionately sized upper thighs with excess fat and have found that dieting and exercise produce next to no results, perhaps it is time to consider surgical intervention. The thigh lift procedure, or thighplasty, is a body contouring cosmetic surgery that removes excess skin and can help to beautifully contour both the inner thighs and outer thighs for a more attractive and youthful aesthetic.
Benefits
- A better fit in jeans, swimwear, and shorts
- A more youthful appearance to the legs
- Increased self-confidence in one’s image
- Perfect for trimming unwanted fat and sagging skin
- Well-hidden scars
- Combines well with a tummy tuck, liposuction, or a butt lift
- Highly effective, especially when diet and exercise have yielded no improvements
Procedure
Your surgical procedure will take place under general anesthesia at our beautiful accredited medical facility in NJ. Our outpatient centers are equipped with the latest in advanced technology and state-of-the-art software.
You will experience the same adherence to strict safety protocols as at any local hospital, but at APS, you will find a greater degree of privacy, convenience, comfort, and personalized attention. On hand to assist you with your surgical journey is our team of friendly, experienced RNs, medical assistants, and technicians.
Board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Heller and Dr. Haramis will typically create a well-hidden incision within the groin area, excising the excess fat, loose skin, and tissue from the thighs. Once excess skin and tissue have been removed, sutures will be used to close the incisions. In some cases, the doctors may also opt to employ liposuction for more comprehensive results. A thigh lift will usually take about 1-2 hours on average.
Thigh Lift Types
Inner thigh lift / medial thigh lift
The inner thigh lift is typically performed for patients seeking firmer, thinner inner thighs. It is ideal for those with stubborn fat and poor skin elasticity in the inner thigh area.
Outer thigh lift
The outer thigh lift, or lateral thigh lift, can create thinner outer thighs. This procedure is ideal for patients with a large amount of skin, or excessive skin folds, as well as stubborn bulges of fat in the outer area of the thighs.
Lower body lift
The lower body lift, also known as a belt lipectomy, is a combination procedure including a thigh lift and a tummy tuck. These body contouring procedures are ideal for massive weight loss patients.1
Recovery
Thanks to Dr. Heller and Dr. Haramis’ skilled, sophisticated approach, recovery time after a thigh lift tends to be swift and without incident. Upon your release, you will receive a compression garment, which helps minimize swelling while keeping your new thigh shape intact.
All surgery comes with some swelling, bruising, and tenderness, so these symptoms are expected. However, your doctors will provide you with the proper pain medication in the form of various prescriptions.
You will also receive an in-depth plan for your aftercare, including instructions on when to return to work, bathing, bending and sitting, and exercising. Most patients can resume their regular schedules within a week or so.
Results
Following thigh lift surgery, the quality of your skin will look firmer and feel more taught. You may have some visible scars, which can be hidden with clothing. Your individual results will depend on maintaining a stable weight and good fitness.2 It is normal to lose some firmness achieved with surgery due to the normal aging process.
