Arm lift surgery
Just like the rest of the body, the upper arms eventually succumb to the disappointing effects of the aging process, which include a loss of elasticity, sagging, and deflation. Extra skin from significant weight loss or genetic factors are also common causes of arm drooping, often referred to as “bat wings.”
While dieting and exercising may achieve results in other areas of the body, they are rarely effective in contouring the upper arms. Therefore, cosmetic procedures such as a surgical arm lift may be the only true solution for sculpting this particular region.
An arm lift, also called a brachioplasty, is a body contouring cosmetic surgery that can trim loose skin, excise excess fatty tissue, and give you back the slender, attractive arms of your younger days. Plastic surgeons Dr. Heller and Dr. Haramis in NJ have a reputation for superior body sculpting results. They will use a combination of surgery and liposuction to create stunning, natural-looking outcomes.

Consultation
During your initial consultation, we will discuss such important topics as financing and insurance, risks and benefits, recovery and downtime, and your final outcome. All your questions and concerns will be addressed in detail at this time. The doctors will also provide access to our before and after photography library so that you can have the most realistic impression of what to expect from an arm lift.
Procedure
All procedures are performed at our immaculate, accredited outpatient centers in NJ. These beautiful facilities adhere to all the same strict safety standards as any local hospital, but with the added benefit of greater discretion, comfort, personalized attention and convenience.
Arm lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. To begin the brachioplasty procedure, incisions are made on the back of the arm or along the inside of the arm, depending on your treatment plan, and can extend from the axilla (underarm/armpit) to above the elbow. Any excess fat can be removed with liposuction and excess skin excised before the underlying tissue is tightened and redraped.1 Incisions are then closed with sutures, and a compression garment is placed to help your arms mold to their new contours.
From our welcoming, climate-controlled reception areas to our state-of-the-art surgical suites, you will enjoy world-class service in an elite setting. On hand to assist you at all times is our team of friendly and experienced RNs, medical assistants, and technicians, all of whom are passionate about your success and satisfaction.
Recovery & Results
Following arm lift surgery, you can expect to wear your compression garment for at least two weeks to help minimize swelling. We’ll provide you with detailed post-surgical instructions and any pain medication necessary to manage discomfort during the healing process.
You can expect tighter, smoother arm contours following arm lift surgery. Your arm lift results will be visible immediately after the procedure, and they will continue to improve as temporary bruising and swelling dissipate. Results are long-lasting for patients that are able to get regular exercise and maintain a stable weight.3

Have realistic expectations for improvement rather than perfection
Be at or close to their ideal weight
Be unable to achieve results through dieting and exercise alone
Can I combine any other procedures with arm lift surgery?
Yes, many patients choose to combine other cosmetic procedures with arm lift surgery, such as breast augmentation, breast lift surgery, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), or mommy makeover surgery which combines all of the above.
