How it works
Acne scar treatment is both simple and safe. You can undergo the procedure and return to your normal activities without a need for a lengthy period.
An acne scar is essentially an inflamed blemish caused when acne breaks out. Shallow blemishes heal quickly, but in some cases, a deep break in the wall of a pore allows infected material to spread to nearby tissue. When your body attempts to repair this damage, the result can be often be a raised scar and unsightly blemish.
These issues can be addressed through the use of a precision-engineered medical laser. There are different kinds of lasers that can be used for acne scar treatment, and the laser that’s right for you will be determined by the specific nature of your acne scarring.
Treatment options:
Fraxel® laser
With a Fraxel® laser, we can stimulate the production of healing collagen, improving the appearance of your skin over the course of several treatments.
Dermal fillers
Certain dermal fillers, and their naturally occurring hyaluronic acids, can be used to provide a level of separation between your skin and the scar tissue in question, hopefully stimulating the production of collagen.
Subcision/excision
These procedures uses needles and stitches, respectively, to stimulate collagen production and create a smooth line on the skin that fades over time, making the face look much smoother.
Laser resurfacing and dermabrasion
These procedures work beneath the skin, essentially removing dead and damaged skin cells and allowing new, healthy skin to rise in its place. Best used in conjunction with other procedures.
