Augmenting the lips should
be done in a gradual manner so as to keep the lips looking
natural. There are several different techniques used:

Juvederm
injection is the easiest procedure. It can be done as an
in-office procedure in a few minutes. The results are natural and
may last up to 8 months. |
Fat injections can build up the
lips over time using your own fat as a natural enhancer.
Silicone injections
can gradually increase the size of the lips. Microinjection techniques
are employed to build up the lips over time with only a minimal chance
of side effects. The results can be permanent because silicone is
similar to placing an implant in the lips.
Lip Implants
can still be used to accomplish the enhancement at a single visit, but
these are used much less often nowadays due to the ease and fine tuning
ability of silicone injections.
Upper Lip Lift
is a minor surgical procedure where an incision is hidden under the nose
and some skin of the upper lip is excised, followed by a plastic surgery
closure of the lip which subsequently lifts it. This can be done under
local anesthesia, but the upper lip has to be long enough to accommodate
the excision. Other surgical procedures that lift the upper lip are
discouraged, especially when making an incision at the lip margin which
may result in a noticeable scar.
